Do you a bestseller in the back of your mind? Do you ever wonder what it would like to be a professional writer? What does it take to write a book and then get it published? Have you read one of David L. Robbins’ books and wondered what he's like?

The Essex Inn
in conjunction with the Essex Public Library
will be hosting its Spring

Weekend with a Writer

featuring David L. Robbins
on April 25 and 26th, 2008.

David L. Robbins is the best-selling author of War of the Rats, The Assassins Gallery, Liberation Road, Last Citadel, Scorched Earth, The End of War and Souls to Keep. He divides his time between Richmond and his sailboat on the Chesapeake Bay. He is currently writer in residence at his alma mater, the College of William and Mary. He has just published his latest historical thriller, The Betrayal Game.

On Feb. 3, 2008, The Richmond Times-Dispatch wrote, “ In a page turner that subtly explores how history is made…and includes documented annotations that offer suggestive if not conclusive evidence for his tale of assassination and betrayal, Robbins deftly creates a plot that has enough dizzying twists and turns to satisfy the most demanding thrill seeker. “

Our weekend commences on Friday at 6 p.m.with dinner at Lowery’s, where Mr. Robbins will talk about his new book.

Copies of his latest book will be available for sale and for autographs.

Saturday includes breakfast, our “Writer’s Workshop,” where David will talk about what it takes to write a bestselling book, and free time to explore our local museums, used book store, boutiques and antique shops or catch up on your reading.

Saturday night will be an intimate evening here at the Inn for just our guests and Mr. Robbins.

We will start at 6 p.m. with cocktails and then enjoy a three-course meal.
Sunday includes breakfast and a special take-home gift from the Inn.
